Dec. 16th, 2018 01:31 amGrowing up as an orphan in an isolated home with only a single surrogate parent, and thus never quite knowing with a loving relationship looked like, he'd never been sure he'd ever get married. But when the time came, he'd discovered what that relationship felt like. Neo's outgoing verve was a nice contrast to his more cautious approach, and the two of them hit it off quickly, growing so close that Alph began to understand her just fine without a voice. He loved her more than he could put into words, so he'd put it into actions - presenting her with a ring, and the intention to make her his wife. She'd agreed, and they'd found just the one thing they really disagreed on.
Celibacy. Alph had been raised religiously, and while he was hardly what one would call a church militant, he did cling to certain traditions he found fitting to his disciplined upbringing. One was that he should wait to have sex until marriage. Neo... didn't agree. She'd pouted, leaned into his chest, pulled her shirt down, but Alph had held fast; yes, engagement was an absolute commitment from him to her, but that just meant she could be all the more secure in waiting and knowing he'd be there. She didn't seem entirely happy with that, but with the promise that after they were wed there were no such limits, she'd seemed satisfied.
The two of them were settling into bed, Alph putting an arm around his fiancée to draw her close. A date had been set for their wedding, something that only made him adore her more in anticipation. "Thing about it, Neo," her murmured. "Six months from now, to the day, we'll be getting into bed as husband and wife."
He didn't mean anything by it, just expressing his excitement. Of course, one of the things he found so exciting about life with her was what he said and what Neo heard weren't always the same thing.
