Alph was not as happy as you'd expect from a hero on their wedding day. That mostly had to do with his bride-to-be. Most people, himself included, and imagined a variety of brides for one of the kingdom's most famed heroes. A childhood friend. Someone he'd been adventuring with for years. A princess he rescued. A humble village girl who treated his wounds. Very different stories, but they all had one thing in common: his would-be wife was human.
Alas, that was not to be. The very monsters he'd fought against almost his entire life had brokered a peace deal with the human kingdom, and a marriage was to be the capstone of this. The kingdom had a single royal heir - a daughter. But then it came out that the mysterious Overlord, someone not even Alph had seen despite his frequent quests into enemy territory, was a woman. And suddenly every male noble in the line of succession was married, engaged, or had a similar excuse. Which left only one option - what if one of their most famous heroes was the one to "accept the peace deal"?
And that was the only reason Alph had agreed to this. Because in the long run, peace would save more human lives. He didn't like it one bit - not the sudden retirement (even if both sides had promised cushy living conditions), not being married sight-unseen, and not being married to something that was a writing mass of tentacles for all he knew. So there was a bit of a scowl on his face as he spent the morning of the ceremony polishing his armour - it was to be what he wore when the rings were exchanged, the knight-errant was allowed that much.
He was so caught in his own thoughts he actually jumped when he heard a knock. "It's open."

"Really sorry to drop in all uninvited like this, was just doing a bit of cleaning before the actual wedding." Her smile grew more awkward as the demon's gaze began to drift away from Alph. "B-believe it or not, a custodial error made us think it'd already been cleaned and... well oops?" Then came the nervous laugh.
"I-it'll only take a minute though, promise!"

Little by little, he let his guard down. First, because she wasn't armed. Second, because she was clearly one of those sex demons. Tits that huge were a dead giveaway. Third, because she wasn't trying to seduce him. And finally, because he eventually remembered they were at peace now.
"Do what you have to," he said brusquely. He sat down again, continuing to shine his breastplate so he'd look good for the ceremony. He kept an eye on her, though, and not all of it was suspicion. A great hero he might have been... but he was also a man. One who fancied maids and big breasts. The housekeeper wasn't hideous or undesirable by any stretch.

For a few moments there was just the quiet sound of armor being polished joined with the occasional shifting of odds and ends, or the maid dusting, but finally the relatively silence was broken.
"So um, I wasn't sure if you knew this or not, but there was a huge betting pool set up when the marriage was announced," the demon started again, sparing a glance back over at Alph only to recognize he was still keeping an eye on her. On seeing that though, the maid seemed to shrink back slightly out of concern.
"U-unless you don't want any conversation, I mean. This is a super big moment for you, after all.""
no subject
"No, now I'm curious. Go on," he told her. "What were your kind betting on, exactly?"
This he had to hear. He knew monsters were intelligent, but what the hell kind of wager would they take regarding their rulers' wedding to a hunter of their kind?

"Some though that maybe the Demon Lord would end up having to be with the princess. There's a lot of talk that she can swing both ways, if you get my meaning. But push came to shove, she'd been all 'I'd rather a hero than royalty' for some reason. So some were betting land or titles or heirlooms she'd just get with the princess, and some were pretty certain that you'd still bite the bullet and get with her. Pretty sure a bunch of them were ones who would've tangled with you in battle at least once or twice."
Another nervous glance, and then the maid began to move forward, closer to Alph.
"There's even a few that made longshot wagers that this whole arrangement would fall apart at the last second because of cold feet. You wouldn't have... you know... any second guesses or anything?" The demon gave a little shrug. "I've got a stake all of it too. J-just a tiny one though! But if you clue me in on how you're feeling I could probably make out like a bandit and I'd totally give you a cut of the profits too!"
Wait. Was this the actual reason the maid came in for in the first place?

"It doesn't matter what I think," Alph said. "This peace will save too many lives for my feelings to matter. That's always what this was about - keeping people safe. If marrying an overlord is the most effective way to so that, then..."
Alph sighed and put down what he was working on.
"I'm going through with this, you can be certain of that. I never thought I'd end up marrying a monster and I'm not going to pretend there's any chance of love at first sight out there. I just hope your 'overlord' is someone I can get along with. If this whole things breaks down because we can't stand each other... every life lost in the following war is partly my fault."
He lowered his head for a moment, the responsibility of that weighting heavily on him. Then he jerked his head back up.
"Wait, why am I saying all this to you?"
no subject
And then a smile grew on her face as she leaned forward, taking Alph's hand in both of her own and giving it a strong shake. "But insider knowledge is always appreciated, and maybe you're just doing what you can to sweeten this arrangement now that you know there's a side hustle going on? Conviction like that's about as safe of a bet as anyone can hope for though, and provided this all works out I'll have quite the cut for you once I get my payout!"
Then, as a farewell gift, the maid leaned even closer, planting a brief kiss on Alph's cheek before giving him a wink and a wave. "At any rate, best of luck tying the knot! I hear the Demon Lord doesn't bite too much!" And with her goal accomplished, the demon marched right into the door, bonking her head into it and crying out in pain as she realized she needed to pull it open.
"T-totally meant to do that!" she insisted before taking her leave.
... And then she came right back, now much more flustered with a pinkish blush contrasting with her blue skin as she grabbed her maid trolley. "-T-totally meant to do this too!"
Fortunately there were no more complications as the maid finally exited the room, leaving Alph at least a few more minutes of peace and quiet before the wedding ceremony was to be conducted.

And having those feelings validated helped too. Even if it come from the last source he would expect. But maybe this was good for him. He'd be living with their overlord, some small affectionate touched from a demon to prove they were capable of such was comforting right now. "If I ever see you again, I'll hold you to that," he promised when she mentioned a safe bet.
And then her completely inept exit gave him something else he needed right now - a good laugh.
Not long after, and he was waiting at the altar as the ceremony began, wearing his renewed armour. It was symbolic for the occasion, him being a knight and all. Plus, newly repaired and wearing adornments like a cape, it looked formal enough. He took a deep breath, keeping a smile on his face - it would start things on a sour note if the man of the hour looked angry or depressed during what was supposed to be a happy union ensuring peace, after all.
And that was his last thought before the music started, and he looked down the isle to lay eyes on his new wife for the first time.

But the Demon Lord herself was something else entirely. It seemed she'd taken some human traditions to heart about the groom not seeing the bride before they were wed, based on the long, form-covering gown she wore. And it was red, because of course it was. Black would've been too dour for an occasion regardless of whether or not it was an arranged marriage. White would've looked too out of place and jarring as the head of the demonic procession. But not a single patch of skin was out on display, and such was the Demon Lord's veil that seeing through to her face was impossible.
Yet any possible doubt that this was a stand-in was quickly dispelled as she reached Alph, the Demon Lord holding up a hand displaying their signet ring; an ornate and one-of-a-kind treasure topped with a sapphire, the only contrast to be found in her crimson apparel. It would also serve as Alph's ring once they were wed.
The priest -human, as per the arrangements of the treaty- gave an understanding nod as he saw it. The music came to a gradual end, and now it was just a matter of standing there and waiting until vows were to be exchanged. The priest spoke strongly of the power of love and harmony, of its power to bring an end to hostilities and allow for common ground to be found even for those that had never not been at each other's throat.
For their part, the demons present each bowed their heads in recognition to those words. In spite of their peculiarities, this all certainly seemed to be an endeavor in good faith so far.

When he saw the ring, he nodded as well. It checked out, he'd never seen it in person before but he'd come across some of the security it bypassed during his quests. The idea of him wearing it soon was... a little disquieting.
Still. He stopped and thought of all the lives that would be easier and more secure after this, and that made them pleasant expression on his face more neutral. Even if he did have to listen to the high priest rambling at length so he didn't miss any of his cues. Something that was interrupted at times by a combination of anticipation and curiosity. Her veil was thick enough he couldn't make out any features through it. Just what did his bride look like?
no subject
Unfortunately that was not to be when the Demon Lord turned slightly to one of their attendants. The demon jumped slightly at suddenly being on the spotlight before they hastily produced a length of parchment. "M-my pardons," they apologized. "T-the Demon Lord wanted her vows presented by a-another." Presumably as a show of authority still, even if she was relinquishing her ring and a degree of her independence.
There was a brief period of stammering and nervousness as the attendant looked over the document.
"I-in spite of the Demon Lord's reputation, she is still well-versed in the complexities of love. She also fully knows the purpose for this marriage, and likewise, understands that you do as well. She is fully committed to not just the letter but the spirit of this arrangement, and you have her full confidence that together y-you'll be able to make it work no matter the problems that arise."
"A-and-" as the attendant looked over the words that were to follow, their eyes went wide suddenly. They blanched at what had been given to them, yet all it took was looking back up at the veiled face of the Demon Lord for them to get back on with it.
"And they w-want it to be abundantly clear, not just to you but to everyone else that... that..." They swallowed anxiously.
"That they intend to never give up on you, or fail to live up to your own expectations, or desert you for another, make you cry, abandon you or this alliance, or so much as lie or knowingly act in any way with the intention of harming you."
The choice of vows and their particular order were odd to say the least, but the thoroughness of it all couldn't be disregarded. And the Demon Lord's ring shone with energy for a moment, signifying the binding nature of those vows as Alph's bride slipped the ring off her finger, and thus offered it to her groom.
Oh my god. Did you just.
He accepted the ring from her but didn't put it on immediately, choosing to speak first.
"I was always raised to be adaptable, and take whatever opportunities appeared in front of me." He was speaking a bit slowly, very deliberately, keen to get this right first try. "While this is a military doctrine, I must simply extend that to what lays before me today. I cannot promise what normally goes into a vow, so I won't. But I can make this statement.
"As long as we both live, this union symbolizes an end to bloodshed. So I will do all I can to maintain it. I will protect you, and support you. Though I profess not to know you, I will not close my heart to you. We will learn about each other, much as our people have to."
Honest, but not promising more than he was ready for. And with that, he put her ring on, and took one of his own off. Alph had precious few family possessions, so this was bespoke - gold band, a silver line around to middle, and set with an emerald flanked by rubies. Again, nontraditional, but those colours were his too. He offered it to her in turn.
[[ooc: I can only wish I came up with something that amusing.]]
I was trying to class it up and was worried you might not recognize it, but yes
And then it was done. Alph and the Demon Lord were wed, with a hopeful applause ensuing. All that was left was for Alph to kiss his bride, and the Demon Lord took the initiative to lift her veil herself revealing-
-A rather familiar blue-skinned sex demon, beaming with pride and amusement before she winked to him.
"Ta-da-da!" Demon Lord Belial Burial XIII the 13th declared triumphantly as she pulled Alph into a hug.
If I didn't I think you're obligated to seize my internet license
"You?!"
There were a number of things Alph didn't expect. First, for him to have been such an idiot to think the Overlord wouldn't have sussed him out somehow. (First-and-a-half, that she'd be enough of a klutz for her prior exit.) Second, that triumphant little trill. And finally, the hug. And when you're wearing plate armour, any surprise shift would upset your balance, so he lurched into her a bit.
That worked, though. It at least made it look like her embraced her in return on purpose. And having seen her and her perfectly humanoid face before, it was easy for him to quickly steel himself and take the initiative on the final step of this ceremony - kissing the bride. He leaned in, with more control this time, and pressed his lips to hers.
no subject
She really did savor the moment, but after a point she finally broke away from the kiss, face flush from excitement.
"I guess the only thing left to do now is consummate," she said with a resigned smile, the applause and music such that her words would be drowned out for anyone not as close as Alph was. "Or at least get a little alone for whatever floats your boat."
no subject
And besides, it was a good kiss. And far from the last. So he didn't fight her tongue at all, though he didn't chase her either.
"...Let's get to the private before we discuss that." Honestly, he'd put that part out of his mind. But he took her arm as was proper and led her back down the aisle toward the waiting carriage. It was only a short journey - still escorted - before they were left alone in a cosy cottage for the night. There would be no reception, and a guest list would be even more trouble than the delegates at the ceremony. No doubt both sides would be celebrating in their own way, but the couple were left to... well.
Alph didn't know what to say, but he did start taking off his armour. It was a gesture for him as much as anything. He had to learn to trust her. And he'd make himself take the first step immediately, before he could hesitate.
no subject
"Well, we did it!" she said with a proud smile on her face. Already her hands were moving to strip out of her wedding dress in a manner not unsimilar to Alph, red fabric parting way to reveal blue skin. A lot more blue skin, in fact. "At long last and in spite of all the reservations, peace in our time! Not a bad way to spend an afternoon, to say nothing of the rest of our lives."
But after a moment's pause, and reading the room a bit better, the Demon Lord dropped the near-giddy attitude. "You're not super upset about the whole maid thing, right?"
no subject
"We did." And she seemed so, so happy to have peace. Again, going against expectations. Wow. It was one thing when the monsters he resented actually fought back, but looking at this blue-skinned bumblefuck who hadn't raised a finger at him, he was starting to feel like a judgemental asshole.
"No, not at all. Honestly, I don't blame you. I... I guess from your perspective you were being forced to marry someone who murdered who knows how many of your underlings, huh?"
When he put it like that, they really weren't so different. Maybe the nicest example of demonkind, proof this might actually work, was the one at the top.
no subject
Squeaky wheels got the grease, after all. Doctors and the sick. Criminals and law enforcement. Heroes and Demons. Groups drawn together through the power of sheer contrast, to the point that they had more in common with those they opposed than those that were alongside them. Belial was pretty sure at least at one point in the past she'd attempted to kidnap and hold the princess for ransom, but she couldn't even remember her name. Meanwhile, she'd never so much as met Alph until this day, yet nevertheless he'd been a part of her life, as she'd been for him.
"And you're right. The past is bloody for both of us. And we could get caught up on that, or we could actually try to make the here and now matter."
And one such thing she happened to have known about Alph...
"... So do you at least like my tits?"
no subject
He did actually smile, though. She was right. The fact they were having this conversation proved they understood each other. She'd come to him anonymously and had obviously accepting his reasoning, and his caution. Clearly she wouldn't take any disagreement he had with her views as an attack. Yes, this could very much work.
Alph was just setting the last of his armour aside, leaving him in just the fairly light foundation garments, when she made her last comments. He was about to casually agree with her comment about looking to the future, when he last comment made him double-take so severely his neck audibly cracked.
"Ow..." Well, that was appropriate for the conversational whiplash. Realizing he'd been off in his thoughts, he looked over at his new wife again, really taking in her figure. "...Yeah, I do. I've got a weak spot for big ones..."
No point not to be honest with his wife, right? And the highest of sex demons sure had some serious knockers on her.
no subject
There were things on her mind. Concerns, worries, requests even. But seeing Alph there, comfortable and cracking jokes, meant that sort of things could wait. This was their wedding night, after all.
"So I take it there won't be any objections if I get the rest of this little old thing off?" she gestured to the black under-corset she'd had on beneath her wedding dress.
no subject
That thought caused a stirring between his legs, much more naturally than he was anticipating. He sat on the bed beside her in the space she left for him. "No objections at all. In fact..."
He reached toward her. The temptation was there to simply grab a handful of her chest, but he made himself have some restraint. The more anticipation, the more desire he created, the more he'd enjoy this - and if he could enjoy consummating with her, surely everything else would be tolerable. So instead, she got to enjoy her new husband undoing the front laces of her corset for her.
no subject
Not that there was any need for anything like that as Alph proved he was ever the gentleman, unfastening what passed for her corset. There wasn't much to it though, and before long Belial arched her back a little bit with a playful sigh, all to help the big blue tits slip free.
"Well that was awfully kind of you. I suppose you're going to want a reward now or something like that?" She leaned forward, letting her arms move, but rather than just pull Alph in so he could get a face full of boob, they went to his shoulders instead, the Demon Lord looking him straight in the face.
"I imagine you've been told about it plenty of times before, but it never hurts to bear repeating. Especially when this is supposed to be about trust and honesty. You're aware of the sorts of changes people go through when they spend too much time with a sex demon, right?"
no subject
"I know," he answered. "I won't lie, it's one of the things I struggled with. But it's hard to predict and this is about unity, right? We'll just have to see what happens. If we hate an individual change, that's what purification rituals are for."
...He'd said we, already. He hadn't meant that, it had just slipped out. Belial was just... much easier to feel close to than he'd imagined. It made talking to her easier. But as she's said, they'd done enough talking for now. They could get all political about the marriage once it was consummated. Besides, if he was going to get corrupted just being around her, might as well enjoy it, right?
He held up his hand, hovering near her chest. "May I?"
no subject
Well, that would certainly come in due time, and there were more pressing matters. "Well of course if you just want to use one hand," Belial chided. "But that's practically nothing!"
And to prove her point, she even let a hand slide down to Alph's arm, so she could guide his own down into her titflesh. There was hardly any force put into it, just enough so Alph could finally feel the softness of her breast against his hand, but she figured that was enough to get her point across. "Your face or your cock or pretty much anything else is just as much fair game too."
